At Kenley you get access to two professional ceramic artists. Treston has been potting for over 50 years and Fiona for over 30 years. Both Fiona and Treston are professional teachers and are able to create courses to suit individuals or groups, combining their expertise in education with their knowedge of techniques and skills needed to create ceramic pieces. 

 

 

 

At Kenley we design bespoke courses tailored to you. Here are some of the skills and techniques you can learn with us:

 

Learning about sculptural techniques and the use of armatures

 

How to hand build using:
Slab building
Pinch pot techniques
Coiling

 

Using a potters wheel. How to:
Prepare your clay
Center your clay on the wheel
Throw a cylinder
Turn and finish your pot

 

How to decorate your pot using:
Slips and underglazes
Glazes (both low and high fired)
Impression patterns
Sgraffito
Burnishing
